Rams take series at Columbia International

 Bluefield University baseball swept Saturday's doubleheader at CIU to take the weekend series against the home standing CIU Rams. CIU won Friday's game 7-2 before BU bounced back with a pair of wins, 9-6 in 10 innings, and 9-2, Saturday afternoon.
In the series opener Bluefield held a 3-0 lead after three innings before CIU scored seven unanswered, including three in the eighth to take the 7-2 win. Johnny Medina was 3-for-5 with a pair of runs batted in.
Saturday's opening game went extra with the BU Rams earning the W with three runs in the 10th. The CIU Rams scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. Briley Harlan led the Bluefield hit parade going 2-for-5 and knocking in three runs. Harlan picked up his third home run of the season and later doubled. Noah Burtner worked the final inning and a third to pick up the win.
In game two BU scored opened a 6-0 lead in the first two innings and added three more in the sixth. Harlan again went yard for Bluefield with his fourth homer of the year. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Max Aristy also knocked in a pair of runs. Ryan Voss pitched five innings, allowed four hits and struck out five. Jordan Brown worked the final two innings in a non-save situation.
Bluefield is back in action Tuesday as they begin a two-day Ohio road trip. The Rams take on Rio Grande, Tuesday, and travel to Ohio Christian on Wednesday. Both are single games.
The Rams are now 11-10 overall and 3-8 in the AAC.
