There were 1,134 students enrolled in Dickenson County schools in the 2024-25 school year, 11.4% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.
In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Dickenson County comprised 53.1% boys, with girls representing the remaining 46.9%.
Data also showed that white students made up 96.8% of the student body, the largest percentage in Dickenson County schools, followed by Black or African American students with 1.1%, 1.1% Hispanic students and 0.3% American Indian or Alaskan Native students.
Ridgeview Middle School had the highest enrollment among Dickenson County’s two schools in the 2024-25 school year, welcoming 586 students.
According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 56% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 44%.
