The Blue Ridge Airport Authority in Henry County, Virginia, has received a $4,335,800 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The funding will be used to extend an existing runway at the Blue Ridge Regional Airport and bring it up to current standards.

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), who represents Virginia’s 9th district in Congress and has held this position since 2011 after serving in the Virginia House of Delegates for a decade, commented on the announcement:

“Improvements to airport runways enhance safety and aviation operations.

This DOT grant for more than $4.3 million helps the Blue Ridge Airport Authority make necessary runway improvements at the Blue Ridge Regional Airport.”

Griffith was born in Philadelphia in 1958 and now lives in Salem. He graduated from Emory and Henry College with a BA and earned a JD from Washington and Lee University.

The grant is part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Airport Improvement Program. More information about Griffith’s career can be found at https://morgangriffith.house.gov/biography/.
