The United States is set to observe the 81st anniversary of D-Day on Friday, June 6. In anticipation of this significant event, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) addressed Congress from the House floor. His remarks highlighted the National D-Day Memorial and paid tribute to Bob Slaughter, one of its founders.

“In 2023, Congressman Griffith announced that the U.S. Department of Interior’s National Park Service (NPS) inducted Bedford County, Virginia, into its American World War II Heritage Cities Program,” a statement reads.

Bedford County holds the distinction of being the only World War II Heritage City in Virginia.
