U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) has issued a statement following the death of Jim McGlothlin, a notable figure in Southwest Virginia.
“I am saddened to learn of the death of Jim McGlothlin, a figure whose impact is felt in Southwest Virginia. As an instrumental force in the region, many communities and charities in Southwest Virginia appreciated his support. We will continue to think of his family and friends during this difficult time,” Griffith said.
Griffith currently represents Virginia’s 9th congressional district in the U.S. Congress, a position he has held since 2011 after succeeding Rick Boucher. Before his tenure in Congress, Griffith served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1958, Griffith is now 65 years old and resides in Salem. He earned a BA from Emory and Henry College in 1980 and received his JD from Washington and Lee University in 1983.
