Morgan Griffith, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, posted a series of updates on social media regarding recent flood damage in the Dante communities of Russell and Dickenson Counties and highlighted a new manufacturing initiative in Virginia.
On July 21, 2025, Griffith wrote: “Over the weekend, I joined Russell County Sheriff Watson, Supervisors Eaton and Wallace, other officials and first responders to assess the significant flood damage in the Dante communities in both Russell and Dickenson Counties.” On the same day, he added his intention to support recovery efforts at the federal level: “I intend to do what I can from the federal level to provide assistance”.
The following day, Griffith shifted focus to economic development within the state: “A new Virginia site dedicated to the manufacturing of domestic medicines is a big win for Virginians and Americans, thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Governor Youngkin!”
Morgan Griffith has represented Virginia’s 9th District in Congress since replacing Rick Boucher in 2011. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010.
