Morgan Griffith, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, recently shared his views on national and state political issues through a series of posts on social media.
On April 7, 2026, Griffith expressed support for voter ID policies, stating “Hard for Americans to fall for Democrats’ nonsense when commonsense voter ID policies receive broad support from Americans of all political persuasions!” On the same day, he commented on governance in Virginia by writing “Divisive, bad governance undoes the progress made from the Youngkin Administration’s successes.”
In a post dated April 8, 2026, Griffith addressed international affairs and praised former President Trump’s actions regarding Iran: “President Trump is to be commended for reaching a ceasefire agreement with Iran. Thanks to the great efforts of U.S. armed forces, Iran has been crippled and has been forced to the negotiating table.”
Morgan Griffith was born in Philadelphia in 1958 and currently resides in Salem. He graduated from Emory and Henry College in 1980 and earned his law degree from Washington and Lee University in 1983. Before joining Congress in 2011—succeeding Rick Boucher—he served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010.
