Morgan Griffith, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 9th District since 2011, recently shared updates on his work to improve health care access in rural communities. Griffith, who succeeded Rick Boucher and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010, highlighted a series of visits and discussions at local hospitals as part of his role as Chair of the Health Subcommittee.
On July 9, 2025, Griffith posted: “Our first joint public action as Chair and Vice Chair of the Health Subcommittee took place at the Lee County Community Hospital. I am committed to working with Vice Chair Harshbarger to improve health care access for rural communities and help rural hospitals serve patients.”
The following day, July 10, 2025, Griffith reported: “Following my visit to Lee County, I participated in a roundtable discussion at Clinch Valley Medical Center. I visited their facility for a roundtable discussion to gain more knowledge of their needs.”
On July 11, 2025, Griffith continued his outreach by stating: “As the new Chair of the Health Subcommittee, I remain committed to receiving invaluable perspectives from our rural hospitals. Of my hospital visits this week, I engaged in a roundtable discussion with folks at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery.”
Griffith was born in Philadelphia in 1958 and currently resides in Salem. He holds a BA from Emory and Henry College (1980) and a JD from Washington and Lee University (1983).
