Morgan Griffith, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, has shared his insights and activities through recent social media posts. Griffith, who succeeded Rick Boucher in Congress and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates, has been vocal about issues ranging from small business growth to legislative achievements.
On July 5, 2025, Griffith emphasized the importance of small businesses by stating “The BBB lets small businesses thrive. The small businesses of today could be like the small businesses of this day in 1994. Today small, tomorrow a giant.” His remarks suggest a belief in the potential for today’s enterprises to grow into significant economic players.
Two days later, on July 7, 2025, he reported meeting with insurance professionals from Galax as representatives of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. He noted that these discussions took place in Washington D.C., mentioning “In June, representatives of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. Insurance professionals from the Galax area met with me in DC to discuss several issues.”
Later that same day, Griffith reflected on an interview conducted during his travels through Southside Virginia. He discussed Republican efforts benefiting Virginians and outlined key policy areas such as tax preservation and energy dominance. He stated “During recent travel through Southside, I interviewed w/ Carroll News on Republican reconciliation wins for Virginians…” Among these were maintaining the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act without increasing taxes and ensuring no taxes on tips or overtime pay.
Morgan Griffith was born in Philadelphia in 1958 and resides in Salem. He graduated from Emory and Henry College with a BA in 1980 and obtained a JD from Washington and Lee University in 1983.
