Morgan Griffith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, has recently shared his views and activities through a series of tweets. Griffith succeeded Rick Boucher in this role and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010.
On May 12, 2025, Griffith emphasized the importance of tax reform for American families. He stated that “Passing a pro-growth tax code helps American families and expands the middle class. American families want commonsense solutions!”
Two days later, on May 14, 2025, he acknowledged progress in advancing budget recommendations under Chairman Brett Guthrie’s leadership. Griffith expressed optimism about delivering legislative results by stating: “Thanks to the leadership of Chairman @RepGuthrie, @HouseCommerce advanced our budget recommendations! We are one step closer to delivering a pro-growth, commonsense reconciliation bill for the American people!”
On May 15, 2025, Griffith attended an event honoring fallen law enforcement officers. He noted Deputy Hunter Reedy’s participation from Smyth County Sheriff’s Office along with his family and colleagues like Sheriff Shuler. In his words: “I attended a 2025 roll call of heroes honoring our country’s fallen law enforcement officers in the last year, including Deputy Hunter Reedy of Smyth County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Reedy’s family participated and Sheriff Shuler and other colleagues were also present.”
Morgan Griffith was born in Philadelphia in 1958 and resides in Salem. He holds degrees from Emory and Henry College (BA) and Washington and Lee University (JD).
