Morgan Griffith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 9th district, shared updates on local high school achievements and ongoing issues concerning robocalls via social media posts on June 9, 2025.
On this date, Griffith celebrated Floyd County High School’s accomplishment in sports by announcing that “Floyd County High School claims the boys outdoor track and field Class 2 state championship. Congratulations to the boys team on this fantastic achievement!” This recognition highlights the school’s success in athletics.
In another post shortly after, Griffith congratulated Auburn High School for their victory by stating that “The 2025 Class 1 champions for girls outdoor track and field: Auburn High School. Wishing these student-athletes continued success! Congratulations!” His remarks underscore his support for local schools’ accomplishments in sports.
Later in the day, Griffith addressed a significant concern among constituents regarding robocalls. He referenced survey data from 2023, indicating that “A 2023 survey estimated that 30% of Medicare Advantage eligible beneficiaries receive 7 or more robocalls a week.” He expressed his commitment to addressing this issue by stating, “I have heard even higher numbers from constituents! I support exploring ways to protect Americans from constant robocalls and robotexts.”
Morgan Griffith has been serving in the U.S. Congress since replacing Rick Boucher in 2011. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010. Born in Philadelphia in 1958, he now resides in Salem and holds degrees from Emory and Henry College and Washington and Lee University.
