Morgan Griffith, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing health care innovation and energy policy.

On September 3, 2025, Griffith wrote about the Health Subcommittee’s priorities: “The Health Subcommittee is focused on exploring the role we can play in helping shape the future of AI in American health care.”

Later that day, he commented on U.S. energy policy and recent legislative action: “I make no apology for saying I am pro-U.S. energy. The Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act unleashes American energy dominance and helps fuel our status as the #1 economic power in the world.”

On September 4, 2025, Griffith announced a successful amendment to an appropriations bill: “I am glad the House adopted my amendment to the Energy and Water Development approps bill, which directs additional millions of dollars to the DOE Office of Fossil Energy. This is a critical office that develops innovative technologies for America to pioneer on the global stage.”

Griffith has represented Virginia’s 9th District in Congress since replacing Rick Boucher in 2011. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010. Born in Philadelphia in 1958 and currently residing in Salem, Griffith graduated from Emory and Henry College with a BA in 1980 and earned his JD from Washington and Lee University three years later.
