Morgan Griffith, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, recently highlighted key legislative and international developments in a series of social media posts.
On July 15, 2025, Griffith emphasized the significance of international cooperation by stating, “America’s partnership with Wales is important and mutually beneficial. I recently saw some of my Welsh friends on the Hill as they continue to highlight their prowess in producing semiconductors, which are key to advanced technology customers and jobs in our country.”
Turning to domestic policy, Griffith celebrated the passage of legislation aimed at addressing the opioid crisis. On July 16, 2025, he posted, “As a leading proponent of the HALT Fentanyl Act since Day One, I am glad to see this important bill become law! Thank you @POTUS and the relentless support of @HouseGOP to combat the deadly fentanyl crisis and save lives.” The following day, he thanked former President Trump for his efforts regarding this issue: “Thank you President Trump for your firm commitment to end the fentanyl crisis!”
Griffith has served in Congress since replacing Rick Boucher in 2011 and previously represented his community in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2000 to 2010. Born in Philadelphia in 1958 and currently residing in Salem, Griffith holds degrees from Emory and Henry College (BA) and Washington and Lee University (JD).
