Bluefield College Athletics issued the following announcement on June 4
Two members of the Bluefield College baseball team are on the roster of the West Virginia Miners. Outfielder David Meech and pitcher Jason Downs are honing their skills this summer in the Prospect League.
Meech led the Rams in hitting in 2021 with a .396 average and was first team Appalachian Athletic Conference. He has appeared in six games for the Miners and has a pair of RBIs.
Downs appeared in 12 games for BC this past season and pitched 31 innings. He recorded 35 strikeouts. For the Miners he has worked three innings and has a pair of strikeouts.
The Prospect League is comprised of 16 teams from West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri. A league breakdown is listed.
