UVA Wise 2021 Tennis Tournament Set for Sept. 2nd-5th

University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics issued the following announcement on July 28

Sponsored by The Coalfield Progress, Impressions of Wise, Inc., and UVA Wise, The UVA Wise tennis teams will be holding their annual Tennis Tournament from Sept. 2nd to Sept. 5 at the Jim and Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex. This year, the tournament will be dedicated to the memory of beloved assistant tennis coach Gary Adams, who was part of the UVA Wise tennis coaching staff for eight seasons. 

'"This is our way of keeping his memory alive," UVA Wise tennis coach and tournament director Danny Rowland said. "Most people attending this tournament each year had crossed paths with Gary, and this is a great way to honor him." 

The tournament will include singles and doubles events for high-school age players as well as adult participants. Participants will be categorized by men's and women's A and B, high-school level, and men's and women's age 50 and over. Participants will be required to follow all USTA guidelines and regulations, and are asked to bring a can of USTA-approved tennis balls to their respective match. 

Entry will be $15 per person, which includes cost of entry and a t-shirt provided by Impressions of Wise, Inc. All proceeds from this event will go towards the UVA Wise men's and women's tennis programs.

To register for the tournament, please fill out the form by clicking on the registration form PDF found here. Entry fees should be sent to Danny Rowland at P.O. Box 4149, Wise, VA 24293. All checks should be made payable to "UVA Wise Tennis."
