Bluefield College Athletics issued the following announcement on Aug. 12
Truett McConnell and Reinhardt battled to the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) championship last season, and the duo is expected to do the same in 2021 as they tied for the top spot in the AAC Women's Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
The coaches voted on the poll, ranking the teams 1-15 with teams receiving 15 points for a first-place vote, 14 for the second, 13 for third, and so on.
Truett McConnell and Reinhardt both amassed 216 total voting points with Truett McConnell receiving eight first-place votes and Reinhardt six. Truett McConnell won the 2020 regular-season championship with a 12-0-1 record, finishing 13-5-2 overall. Reinhardt won the AAC Tournament and went 16-2 overall and 12-1 in conference play.
Tennessee Wesleyan, Montreat, and St. Andrews round out the top five.
Ten teams advance to the AAC Tournament, which begins in early November.
