Bluefield College Athletics issued the following announcement on Nov. 23
The Bluefield University Rams men's basketball team had a strong beginning and a strong ending to defeat the Milligan University Buffaloes Tuesday night in Appalachian Athletic Conference action 80-68 at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams roared to an early 12-4 lead and led 25-8 midway through the first half. The Bluefield lead grew as high as 22 points before Milligan stormed back to make it a nine point game at halftime, 38-29 in favor of BU.
Milligan opened the second half on a 7-0 lead to pull to within two in the first 90 seconds of the second half. A minute later MU took its first lead 39-38. The teams fought back-and-forth with the Bluefield lead growing as high as eight several times only to see Milligan close the gap. The Buffaloes retook the lead with just over four minutes to play at 61-59, but a Jermiah Jenkins three with 2:23 remaining broke a 63-all tie and put the Rams ahead for good.
Trent Dunn led Bluefield with 26 points and Jenkins had 24. Omega Stitt finished with 16. Volante Carroll cleared the boards with 12 rebounds. Jackson Gabriel led Milligan with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Rams are back in action this weekend at The Show in Kingsport, Tennessee.
