Rams fall to Skyhawks in AAC action

Bluefield College Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 1

Women's basketball battled toe-to-toe with an undefeated Point Skyhawks squad but fell 71-60 Wednesday night at the Dome Gymnasium. Point entered the game with a 3-0 league mark and 6-0 overall and the Rams gave the Skyhawks all they could handle.

INSIDE THE GAME

  • Point led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter. A strong second frame by Bluefield pulled the Rams to within one at halftime, 31-30 and Point led 53-50 after three periods of play.
  • After shooting 39% in the first quarter, BU shot 53% in the second and finished the game making 45% of its shots from the field.
  • Bluefield shot 66% from behind the arc in the first quarter, 40% in the fourth and finished the game at 33%.
  • Point shot 50% from the field in the first quarter and finished the game at 38%.
LEADERS

  • Kylie Meadows led Bluefield with 16 points and five rebounds.
  • Destiny Long and Kiaa Boyd each had five rebounds.
  • Iyanna McMillian and Marta Gimenez both had 14 points for Point.
NEXT IN LINE

  • The Rams (2-7, 2-5 AAC) welcome Johnson University to the Dome for an AAC contest, Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
