Census Bureau reports Appalachia population was 1,400 in 2020

Appalachia had a population of 1,400 people in 2020, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the SW Virginia News.

The median age was 37, with 52.7 percent of the total population being female and 47.3 percent male.

The state's total population in 2020 was 8,509,358.
