The Board of Supervisors of Washington County, Virginia, hereby gives notice of its intent to conduct a public hearing at its meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard regarding a proposed ordinance titled:
Ordinance to revise Washington County Code Section 58-84 to enable the Commissioner of the Revenue to establish a rolling basis schedule for acceptance of applications for tax exemption for qualifying elderly and handicapped persons and to revise deadline to November 20 and Section 58-83 for procedural update
Adoption of the ordinance would allow the Commissioner of the Revenue to establish a rolling basis schedule for acceptance of applications for tax discount for qualifying elderly and disabled persons and would revise the deadline for such applications to November 20. Also, it would update procedure for determination of County median income.
The public hearing will be held in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the County Administration Offices located at 1 Government Center Place; Abingdon, Virginia. A copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection in the office of the Washington County Administrator and, also, on the County’s website at www.washcova.com.
