Rams fall in final minutes to Bryan

The Bluefield University Rams women's basketball team battled the Bryan College Lions to the final minute, but in the end the Lions, the second place team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference with only one league loss, took an 80-76 win.

INSIDE THE GAME

  • Bryan charged out of the gate and their first four baskets of the game were three pointers as the Lions took a 12-7 lead. Bryan led 30-22 at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Rams rallied in the second quarter, erased a 15-point Lions lead and trailed by four, 32-28 and trailed Bryan 52-41 at halftime.
  • Bluefield closed to within three points of the lead with three minutes to play in the third, 61-58.
  • Emily Breeding's three tied the game at 63 with 2:50 to play in the third quarter. Bryan led 68-63 after three.
  • The Rams tied again at 70 on a bucket by Kiaa Boyd and Jayden Hoover's three throw put BU on top 71-70.
  • Bryan tied the game at 76 with just over a minute to play and scored the final four points of the game to claim the win.
LEADERS

  • Breeding led the Rams with 22 points.
  • Hoover finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
  • Destiny Long popped in 13 points.
  • Kylie Meadows had 16 points.
  • Lina Pagan had seven rebounds.
