UVA Wise junior first baseman Cole Harness has been named the Varsity Gems South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance over the Highland Cavaliers' five games last week.
A Coeburn, Virginia native Harness had the best week of his collegiate career last week as he hit .778 while posting an .826 on-base percentage and slugging 1.556. The slugger homered three times and tied a league record with 10 RBI in UVA Wise's 24-10 win over Carolina University.
Harness finished the week with three doubles, a triple, three homers, seven runs scored while knocking in 12 runs.
The award is the first of Harness' career who leads the league with 20 RBI to this point in the season while posting a .429/.507/.714 slash line over the season's first 16 games.
