HARNESS ADDS REGIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR
The awards keep rolling in for UVA Wise's Cole Harness. Hours after learning he had won South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week accolades, the first baseman was named NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week.
Harness is the first position player to be named NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week as a Cavalier since the program joined the region and just the second player to be honored overall, joining teammate Garrett Stiltner who earned NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week last season.
A Coeburn, Va. product, Harness tied a single-game South Atlantic Conference record with 10 RBI in a 24-10 win over Carolina. In the contest, Harness homered three times as part of a week that saw him hit .778 while reaching base at an .826 clip. The junior slugged 1.556 for the week and finished with eight runs scored, 12 RBI and seven extra-base hits during the week.
Harness joins Catawba's Dylan Driver and Wingate's Seaver King as SAC players to earn the honor this season.
