Appalachian Regional Commission Awards $700,000 to Buchanan County for Hurley Waterline Extension Project

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has granted $700,000 to the Buchanan County Board of Supervisors for the Hurley Waterline Extension Project. This funding, which marks the final phase of the 12-phase project, aims to enhance water access for 97 households. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) expressed his satisfaction with the allocation, stating:

“I am pleased that these funds from the Appalachian Regional Commission will help guarantee safe, drinkable water for Buchanan County residents. This important project will improve water access for 97 households in Hurley, positively impacting quality of life for many.”

The ARC has reported that the Hurley Waterline Extension Project will also benefit from $3,877,220 in federal funding, $1,829,973 from state sources, and $163,165 from local sources, bringing the total project funding to $6,570,358.
