U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) has revealed that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has granted $70,000 to the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission for economic development planning. The commission, headquartered in Marion, Virginia, will utilize this funding to drive private capital investment and job creation in the Mount Rogers Planning District.
Griffith expressed his enthusiasm for the impact this federal funding will have on the area, stating, “This important federal funding will assist in economic development planning that supports private capital investment and, therefore, job creation in the Mount Rogers Planning District. I look forward to seeing this money positively impact the area for years to come.”
The investment by the EDA aims to bolster the ongoing development and execution of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission. This strategy aims to fortify the regional economy, encompassing the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe, as well as the cities of Bristol and Galax.
This funding will undoubtedly pave the way for increased economic growth and prosperity in the Mount Rogers Planning District.
