Enrollment Analysis: Black students comprised 0.2% of Buchanan County Public Schools District's student body in 2023-24 school year

There were five Black students enrolled in Buchanan County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 50% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Buchanan County Public Schools District welcomed 2,378 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 0.2% of the student body to be the fourth most represented ethnicity in the school.

Buchanan County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Buchanan County and has a main office in Grundy.

Among the eight schools in Buchanan County Public Schools District, Riverview Elementary/Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
