There were nine American Indian students enrolled in Scott County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 28.6% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Scott County Public Schools District welcomed 4,274 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.2% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the school.

Scott County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Scott County and has a main office in Gate City.

Among the 13 schools in Scott County Public Schools District, Virginia Connections Academy and Shoemaker Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
