Enrollment Analysis: Black students comprised 4.8% of Scott County Public Schools District's student body in 2023-24 school year

There were 205 Black students enrolled in Scott County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 34% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Scott County Public Schools District welcomed 4,274 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 4.8% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

Scott County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Scott County and has a main office in Gate City.

Among the 13 schools in Scott County Public Schools District, Virginia Connections Academy recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
