There were 17 Black students enrolled in Dickenson County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 13.3% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Dickenson County Public Schools District welcomed 1,883 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 0.9% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

Dickenson County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Dickenson County and has a main office in Clintwood.

Among the four schools in Dickenson County Public Schools District, Ridgeview High School and Ridgeview Elementary recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
