Enrollment Analysis: American Indian students comprised less than 0.1% of Wise County Public Schools District's student body in 2023-24 school year

There were two American Indian students enrolled in Wise County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 50% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Wise County Public Schools District welcomed 5,883 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised less than 0.1% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the school.

Wise County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Wise County and has a main office in Wise.

Among the 11 schools in Wise County Public Schools District, St. Paul Elementary School and Coeburn Primary School welcomed only one American Indian student in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
