The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech a $616,104 grant for research related to renal fibrosis. Renal fibrosis impacts the kidneys and is linked to chronic kidney disease. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

"The National Kidney Foundation states that one in three American adults are at risk for kidney disease.

"This grant for $616,104 helps Virginia Tech study the impacts of therapies related to kidney disease."

The awarding office of these funds is the HHS National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
