282 6th-grade students enrolled in Wythe County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 282 6th-grade students enrolled in Wythe County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.4% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

The school that enrolled the largest number of 6th-grade students in the county was Fort Chiswell Middle School.

Within Wythe County schools, the largest number of students were found in 12th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Wythe County ranked 67th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 65th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
