Scott County schools welcomed 229 4th-grade students in 2023-24 school year

There were 229 4th-grade students enrolled in Scott County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 4.2% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

The school that enrolled the largest number of 4th-grade students in the county was Shoemaker Elementary School.

Within Scott County schools, the largest number of students were found in 8th-grade, while 4th-grade had the least students.

Statewide, Scott County ranked 65th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 66th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
