The U.S. Department of Energy has allocated a grant of $1,650,000 to the GENEDGE Alliance located in Martinsville. This funding is intended to aid the Virginia Smart Manufacturing Accelerator Program. Congressman Morgan Griffith from Virginia's Ninth Congressional District expressed his views on the grant:
“GENEDGE Alliance is a leading contributor and innovator in the manufacturing space, benefitting economic growth and manufacturing in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District.
This $1.65 million grant helps GENEDGE Alliance develop the Virginia Smart Manufacturing Accelerator Program.”
The program aims to utilize technology-driven methods by employing internet-connected machinery for monitoring and managing production processes. It seeks to automate operations and enhance manufacturing performance through data analytics.
Earlier this year, in June 2024, GENEDGE Alliance was awarded over $2.1 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology as part of their Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program.
