Morgan Griffith discusses holiday traditions and legislation on social media

Morgan Griffith, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 9th District since 2011, shared his thoughts on various topics through social media posts in early December 2024. Griffith, who has a background in law and has served in the Virginia House of Delegates, expressed sentiments regarding local contributions to national traditions, recognized the hard work of coal miners, and commented on legislative measures concerning national security.

On December 5, 2024, Griffith highlighted the significance of Christmas trees during the holiday season. He noted that "For many, in addition to the religious significance of this holiday, part of the Christmas season is the Christmas tree." He further mentioned that selecting a Grayson County tree for the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony acknowledges regional contributions to this festive period.

The following day, December 6, 2024, he marked National Miners Day by acknowledging coal miners' efforts. Griffith stated that "On this National Miners Day, we celebrate the contributions and sacrifices of our country’s coal miners." He emphasized their role in providing energy and supporting steel production across America.

Later on December 6th, Griffith addressed a legal development aimed at protecting U.S. citizens from foreign surveillance via digital platforms. He described it as "integral to protecting the United States by preventing certain foreign adversaries." This measure targets entities like the Chinese Communist Party from using social media and smartphone applications for surveillance purposes.
