The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded a grant of $100,841 to EO Companies, located in Abingdon, Virginia. This organization collaborates with the United Way of Southwest Virginia to support disaster recovery efforts. The funding is designated for a disaster recovery coordinator position and will aid United Way's initiatives in providing resources for Hurricane Helene relief in Southwest Virginia.

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) commented on the grant: "This ARC grant for more than $100,000 helps EO Companies and United Way of Southwest Virginia manage disaster recovery activities."

EO Companies acts as a fiscal agent alongside the United Way of Southwest Virginia. Recently, it was reported that the United Way raised over $2 million for Hurricane Helene recovery efforts. These funds are intended to be distributed directly to 14 localities impacted by the hurricane, supporting individual assistance and broader recovery operations.

The United Way of Southwest Virginia plans to collaborate with local emergency management personnel, officials, and laborers to assess needs, manage work orders, and assist with various disaster recovery tasks.
