Carroll County High School had the highest enrollment among Carroll County schools, welcoming 1,059 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 53.1% of them were male, and 46.9% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 90.6% of Carroll County High School's total enrollment.

Among the nine schools in Carroll County, Carroll County Middle School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 726 students, while Hillsville Elementary School welcomed 467 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Carroll County High School is part of Carroll County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Carroll County, with its main office in Hillsville.

In the previous school year, Carroll County High School also had the highest number of students among Carroll County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
