Gate City High School had the highest enrollment among Scott County schools, welcoming 607 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 51.6% of them were male, and 48.4% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 94.6% of Gate City High School's total enrollment.

Among the 12 schools in Scott County, Shoemaker Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 479 students, while Weber City Elementary School welcomed 367 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Gate City High School is part of Scott County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Scott County, with its main office in Gate City.

In the previous school year, Gate City High School also had the highest number of students among Scott County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
