Terry Kilgore, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing Southwest Virginia, posted a series of messages on August 6, 2025, regarding the passing of Jim McGlothlin. In his posts, Kilgore expressed condolences and highlighted McGlothlin’s contributions to the region.

In one message dated August 6, 2025, Kilgore stated: “Our heartfelt condolences go out to Fran and the entire McGlothlin family.”

Kilgore also reflected on McGlothlin’s career and philanthropic work in another post from the same day: “From his success in the energy industry to the transformative impact of the Bristol Casino, Jim knew how to build, lead and create good-paying jobs for our communities. His philanthropy touched countless lives, supporting organizations throughout the region & across the country.”

Additionally, Kilgore remarked on McGlothlin’s advocacy for Southwest Virginia: “Southwest Virginia lost a giant in the business world today with the passing of Jim McGlothlin.

Jim was a tireless advocate for our region—promoting Southwest Virginia across the Commonwealth and the nation as a place where businesses could locate, grow, and thrive.”

Jim McGlothlin was known for his leadership in both business and philanthropy. He played an important role in economic development initiatives such as those involving Bristol Casino. His efforts were recognized throughout Southwest Virginia and beyond for creating employment opportunities and supporting charitable causes.
