48 coaches at institutions in Tazewell County earned $26,291 on average in 2022

Tazewell County’s 48 coaches earned an average salary of $26,291 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the sixth lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at Virginia post-secondary schools during 2022.

Tazewell County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Bluefield University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $31,396.

Male coaches of men's teams received $26,621 on average in Tazewell County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $19,349.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
