University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 27
UVA Wise announced Bryan Stevens as the athletic department's strength and conditioning coach Wednesday. Stevens comes to the school after most recently serving as a strength and conditioning specialist at Lone Peak Physical Therapy in Big Sky, Mont.
Over his career, the coach has had extensive experience at various levels of collegiate athletics. Before the COVID-19 Pandemic, Stevens served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at NCAA Division II member West Chester University (Pa.).
In that role, Stevens worked primarily with the school's baseball, field hockey, football, softball, women's lacrosse, and women's gymnastics student-athletes.
The coach has also spent time at the University of Denver as a sports performance intern and Springfield College (Mass.) as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant. Additionally, Stevens has had stops at The Citadel, the University of Massachusetts, and Washington College (Md.), working in various strength and conditioning positions.
A former lacrosse student-athlete, Stevens also spent time competing with East Coast Gold in Olympic Weightlifting.
The coach is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting, Reflexive Performance Reset, B Strong BFR Training and the American Red Cross. Stevens obtained a bachelor's degree in history from Washington College before later adding a master's degree in exercise science from Springfield College.
