Cabs Look to take down Cobras in Road MeetUp

University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 3

STORYLINE – VS. COKER

Head coach Jarred Merrill and the Coker Cobras are headed into the UVA Wise matchup with a 1-5 record, with their only win against Mars Hill in a 102- 82 blowout. Their losses have been hotly contested against South Atlantic Conference competitors this season, as they fell to Catawba by a five-point margin and Lenoir-Rhyne by a three-point margin. As a team, the Cobras are shooting 28.1% from the field, 39.3% from threepoint range, and commit about 14 turnovers per game. In UVA Wise and Coker's last meeting, Coker took the win 95-91 on January 9, 2021.

ABOUT UVA WISE Head Coach Blake Mellinger and the Cavs struggled in their most recent matchup against the Newberry Wolves, where the Wolves outscored the Cavs 79-58. The Cavs had a tough time on offense, netting a low 22 out of 64 shots (34.4%) and nine from 33 from the arc (27.3%). Two Cavaliers off the bench were the leading scorers on the night — Isaiah McAmis led the Cavs with 15 points and Kervens Yacinthe ended with 10 points and snagged six rebounds against the Wolves. Positively, the squad was reliable at the charity stripe, going five for seven (71.4%). The Cavaliers are looking to bounce back from their seven-game slump against the Coker Cobras on Saturday's 4:00 p.m. tipoff.
