University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 28
Jack England has signed to play collegiate golf at UVA Wise. The youngest of three brothers, Jack England will become the third brother to play a collegiate sport for the Cavaliers. Jack's older brothers, Daniel (football) and Nick (golf) are former UVA Wise student-athletes with Nick aiding the golf program to its only conference title in school history in 2016.
A native of Wise, Jack England has been a two-time all-state performer at Central High School where he has posted the lowest nine-hole and 18-hole round scores in program history.
This fall, the golfer shot a 71 in the Region D Tournament to finish runner-up in the event; over his career he also has a top-five finish in the state tournament to his credit.
"My plan for recruiting was to get a student-athlete that could be the foundation for what I envision our program becoming," stated Head Men's Golf Coach Evan Sturgill. "Jack is that solid foundation."
A two-sport student-athlete, the newest Cavalier is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and the Spanish Club at Central High School.
The son of Robert and Jennifer England, he intends to pursue an accounting degree once beginning his studies in the fall.
