Griffith Announces U.S. Service Academy Nominations

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) has revealed the names of his nominees to the United States Service Academies. In a statement, Griffith expressed his gratitude and admiration for these exceptional students who have shown a willingness to serve their country.

Griffith stated, “Each year I have the honor to nominate a limited number of young men and women to United States Service Academies. These outstanding students deserve our thanks for their willingness to serve our country. I am proud to nominate them and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Among the nominees from the Ninth District are several remarkable individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to excellence. The nominees for the United States Air Force Academy include Canon Jake Adkins from Bristol's John S. Battle High School, Clara Faith Harding from Roanoke's Hidden Valley High School, Gavin Isaac Littrell from Lebanon's Richlands High School, Delaney Lyn McLaughlin from Roanoke's Cave Spring High School, Sydney Nicole Taylor from Saltville's Patrick Henry High School, and Morgan Elizabeth Tipton from Gate City's Gate City High School and the New Mexico Military Institute.

Samuel Joseph Reilly from Blacksburg's Blacksburg High School and Sydney Nicole Taylor from Saltville's Patrick Henry High School have been nominated for the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

For the United States Military Academy, the nominees include Clara Faith Harding from Roanoke's Hidden Valley High School, Delaney Lyn McLaughlin from Roanoke's Cave Spring High School, Samuel Joseph Reilly from Blacksburg's Blacksburg High School, and Sydney Nicole Taylor from Saltville's Patrick Henry High School.

The United States Naval Academy nominees consist of Canon Jake Adkins from Bristol's John S. Battle High School, David Worthington Brooks III from Bristol (homeschooled), Clara Faith Harding from Roanoke's Hidden Valley High School, Tanner Glenn Long from Christiansburg's Auburn High School and The Citadel, Delaney Lyn McLaughlin from Roanoke's Cave Spring High School, and Sydney Nicole Taylor from Saltville's Patrick Henry High School.

Griffith emphasized that nominees must meet all the entrance requirements of their specific Academy in order to receive an appointment. The nominees will be notified by the individual Academies upon appointment.

These young men and women have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their education and future service to the nation. Congressman Morgan Griffith's nominations reflect his belief in their abilities and potential to excel in their chosen paths.
