U.S. President Donald Trump announced measures aimed at aiding the American coal industry during an event at the White House. The event was attended by U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith, who is the Chair of the Environment Subcommittee in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Following the announcement, Rep. Griffith expressed his thoughts on President Trump's initiatives.

“The ‘War on Coal’, launched by the Obama Administration and continued by the Biden Administration, destroyed American jobs and devastated communities whose lifelines depended on coal,” Griffith stated. He further elaborated, “It is clear that coal is not going away anytime soon. Not only does the United States have the resources to be a leading coal supplier. But we can also make use of coal in a manner which is cleaner than anywhere else in the world.”

Griffith expressed his approval of the president's efforts, saying, “I welcome President Trump’s actions to support American coal jobs, boost America’s energy independence and rein in harmful regulations.”

Congressman Griffith currently chairs the House Committee on Energy and Commerce's Environment Subcommittee, a role he is serving in for the first term during the 119th Congress. He also co-chairs the Congressional Coal Caucus and previously chaired the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations in the 118th Congress.
