The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has allocated a $100,000 grant to the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission. This financial support is intended to aid disaster recovery efforts and provide technical assistance to 14 communities affected by Hurricane Helene.

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) commented on the funding, stating: "This ARC grant for $100,000 helps Mount Rogers Planning District Commission coordinate disaster relief assistance and guide communities that fall under their jurisdiction."

The Mount Rogers Planning District Commission plans to use the ARC funding for community outreach, confirming eligibility for various funding sources, and assisting communities with application preparation. The commission will administer assistance in 14 communities across the Counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe, as well as the Cities of Galax and Bristol.
