The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has allocated a $100,000 grant to the LENOWISCO Planning District Commission. This funding is intended to aid disaster recovery efforts in communities affected by Hurricane Helene. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) expressed his views on this development.

"Congressional passage last week of the American Relief Act means that localities impacted by Hurricane Helene, including those in Southwest Virginia, can request federal assistance," stated Griffith.

He further added, "This ARC grant for $100,000 helps LENOWISCO Planning District Commission deliver Helene-related technical assistance to several communities and address the extent to which greater recovery efforts are needed."

The LENOWISCO Planning District Commission will utilize the funds to review and update strategic plans reflecting the hurricane's impact. Additionally, they will assist with grant applications for rebuilding and managing further recovery funds.
