In response to a memorandum from President Trump's Office of Management and Budget (OMB), U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith has released a statement addressing the guidance issued by the White House. Congressman Griffith clarified that "this temporary pause does not apply to every single federal assistance program," emphasizing that programs providing direct individual assistance remain unaffected. He described the pause as an opportunity for agencies to review these programs and ensure they comply with legal requirements.
Griffith characterized this action as "a prudent review by the new Trump Administration to be careful stewards of taxpayer money." He also committed to monitoring the situation closely to determine which specific programs will be impacted by this temporary measure.
