Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced a significant investment in Carroll County by Oasthouse Ventures Ltd., a company known for its expertise in low-carbon greenhouses. The firm plans to invest $104.8 million to develop an environment agriculture operation in the area.

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) expressed his support for the project, stating, “Southwest Virginia is home to numerous companies and groups supporting and creating agricultural jobs.” He added, “This investment by Oasthouse will advance sustainable food sourcing in the region and greatly benefit the region’s economy.”

Oasthouse Ventures Ltd. is recognized for its focus on low carbon farming through high-tech greenhouses, which enable increased crop yields with minimal input while avoiding environmental pollution.

In addition to this development, other projects are also taking place in the region. MOVA Technologies is working on advanced air emissions filtration technologies, including systems for removing ammonia from poultry facilities. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech’s Project CARDINAL is investigating the potential for carbon dioxide storage within the area.
