The Roanoke County Police Department in Virginia has been awarded $28,181 by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to enhance safety measures for both police personnel and the citizens of Roanoke County. This funding, provided through BJA’s fiscal year 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, will facilitate the purchase of essential safety equipment for the department.
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) expressed his support for the funding, stating, "This funding by the Bureau of Justice Assistance will help the Roanoke County Police Department perform to the best of their ability by ensuring the officers have the safety equipment necessary to serve and protect the citizens of Roanoke County."
